Commercial Electricity

MORE SUPPLIERS. MORE LEVERAGE.

Maine restructured its electricity market in 1997, with full retail choice available since 2000. Eligible businesses in the service territories of Central Maine Power (CMP) and Versant Power can choose their own competitive electricity supplier. Your utility continues to deliver power and maintain the grid — you simply choose the supplier for the supply portion of your bill.

  • Central Maine Power and Versant Power service territories

  • Maine sits inside the ISO-NE wholesale market

  • Some rural municipal and cooperative utility customers may not have supplier choice

Natural Gas

CHOICE DEPENDS ON YOUR UTILITY.

Natural gas supply options in Maine are available to commercial customers of the state's natural gas utilities, including Unitil (Northern Utilities and Bangor Gas) and Summit Natural Gas of Maine. Maine's natural gas footprint is smaller than most states we serve, so availability depends heavily on whether a business is located near an existing gas pipeline.

  • Choice available for eligible commercial customers of Unitil and Summit Natural Gas of Maine

  • Availability depends on proximity to existing gas infrastructure

  • We'll help you understand your options based on your specific location and usage
